BIG-D CONSTRUCTION
COMPLETES BRIGHAM CITY TEMPLE
On October 3, 2009, Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced plans to build a temple in Brigham City, Utah. Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony on July 31, 2010. The Brigham City Utah Temple is the 139th temple of the Church and the 14th in Utah.
With building and landscape designs created to reflect both the history of Brigham City and the classical designs found at other Utah temples, the 36,000 square foot Brigham City Utah Temple will serve over 40,000 Church members in northern Utah and southeastern Idaho. It will be open to the public for tours from August 18, 2012 through September 15, 2012. After a cultural celebration featuring music and dance on September 22, the temple will be dedicated on Sunday, September 23.
