SALT LAKE CITY – JANUARY 27, 2012 — Big-D Construction (www.big-d.com) has promoted Gifford Briggs to vice president.
As vice president, Briggs will oversee all management aspects of the firm's Lindon, Utah office, including business development, estimating, project management and field construction. Briggs has been a managing partner in the Lindon office since Big-D opened it in 2005. He will now complement and support an existing great team and provide additional leadership as Big-D's Lindon office continues to grow.
The Big-D Lindon office is structured to manage over $80 million in annual construction revenue and currently employs over 60 full time office and field staff. Recent projects constructed by Big-D in Utah County include UVU Pope Science, Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Expansion, University of Phoenix , Action Target, Noah's, Thanksgiving Park Office Phase II & III, Riverwoods Imaging Center, and BYU Heritage Housing. The Lindon office recently began buildings 7 and 8 on the BYU Heritage Housing Phase II project.
Briggs, who holds a bachelor's degree in construction management with a minor in business management from Brigham Young University, as well as a master of business administration from the University of Phoenix, has worked in many different areas of the construction industry over the past 13 years – eight of which have been at Big-D. Prior to Big-D, Briggs acquired experience in the commercial construction industry as a project engineer, estimator, and marketing manager. Since joining Big-D in 2003 he has worked as a senior project manager and as a project development manager for the Lindon office and the federal military construction group. With this diversity of construction experience, he strives to provide the highest level of service and value for his clients and their construction projects.
Briggs feels that giving back to the local community is very important. He has served since 2008 on the Mountainland Regional Council for the Department of Workforce Services, a committee of state agencies and industry representatives. As chairman he represents the council at the state level on the State Workforce Investment Board by taking direction from the state level down to the local level. Briggs also served on the board of the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce in 2010 and currently serves on the Foothills Elementary School Community Council in Salem, UT.
