SALT LAKE CITY – August 16, 2011 — Big-D Construction (www.big-d.com), who was recently ranked by Engineering News Record as one of the nation’s Top 10 distribution & warehouse contractors, is currently in the construction phase of Swire Coca-Cola USA’s addition to its corporate headquarters, warehousing and distribution facility in Draper, Utah.

The company will be adding 346,842 additional square feet to its existing 402,577 square foot facility to facilitate the growth of the company’s products over the last several years.

The project, which was designed by Architectural Nexus and broke ground in April, is expected to be completed early next year. The expansion will take place on all four sides of the existing facility, which was completed in 1998.

Swire Coca-Cola USA is a subsidiary of Swire Pacific Ltd., which is headquartered in Hong Kong. Swire is the exclusive Coca-Cola bottler in Hong Kong, Taiwan and seven provinces in Mainland China. In 1978, desiring to expand its soft drink business beyond Asia, Swire purchased the franchise rights for the Coca-Cola bottler in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, Swire’s US-based bottler is Swire Coca-Cola, USA, which operates production and distribution centers in eleven western states.
