OGDEN -- The Boyer Company is constructing three buildings within Business Depot Ogden to meet the needs of firms looking at establishing a larger presence in the bustling industrial park.

The new digs will be particularly beneficial to small companies that are expanding amid a sluggish economy, Steve Waldrip, a manager with Boyer, said Monday.

"It's encouraging to see small businesses get financing to be able to grow," he said.

The largest building, at 766 Depot Drive will encompass about 160,000 square feet and is scheduled to be completed in June.

Darko Technologies will occupy about 10,000 square feet of that space to house a wind tunnel that will test the aerodynamics of aircraft parts, bikes and cars, said Waldrip.

Powder Processors Inc., which provides processed materials for the nutritional supplement industry, will take about 40,000 square feet of space.

In addition, MacKenzie Exhibit, a full- service trade show exhibit company, will occupy about 50,000 square feet, Waldrip said.

Powder Processors and MacKenzie Exhibits are xcurrently at other locations in BDO.

Boyer is also constructing an 80,000-square-foot building at 801 S. Depot Drive for an online customer-service center for The Home Depot Inc. The building is slated to be completed in June 2012, Waldrip said.

The Home Depot plans to invest more than $5 million in tenant improvements to the structure. The company plans to hire 600 employees in 2012 to work in the building and 91 more the following year.
