Dee Livingood was a big man with big dreams of construction success. In 1967, with $1,000 from the sale of his blue Volkswagen, Dee started Big-D Construction in Ogden, Utah. He used his nickname — Big “D” — as his company moniker. Dee laid down a culture of honesty and fairness and then carefully began building a skilled team to help grow his company.
In 1978, Jack Livingood carried on the vision and became CEO in 1998. Along with senior leaders Rob Moore and Dale Satterthwaite, they helped Dee grow the company from a small, local presence in the late 1970s, to a dynamic company with sales of more than $688 million and 680 associates in 21 states. Through this leadership Big-D has been ranked in the top 400 contractors by ENR magazine for over 20 years.
