Big-D Construction has completed four LEED® Certified projects to date (25 percent of all LEED® Certified projects in Utah). One of these projects is their own corporate headquarters, which has achieved a LEED® Gold certification, and is one of the only LEED® certified buildings in Utah that is also on the historic registry. They also completed the University of Utah Health Sciences Building, which was the first LEED® certified building for the University of Utah.
Big-D is currently working on 11 other projects from preconstruction to construction that are on track for LEED® Certification. Three of these projects are anticipated to be LEED® Platinum, which is the highest LEED® Certification achievable.
LEED® Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED®®® certification process. LEED® Accredited Professionals (LEED® APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED® Rating System.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
LEED® is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED® gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED® promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
