HERSHEY'S DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Total Size: 532,460 square feet
Duration: 8 months
Location: Ogden, UT

Business Depot Ogden just got a bit sweeter with the completion of the new Hershey’s Distribution Center. Hershey’s is the nation's second-largest candy maker. Due to the extreme heat sensitivity of chocolate, the Hershey’s Distribution Warehouse was constructed of an energy efficient steel frame building, insulated metal panels, and an elaborate mechanical cooling system which is proprietary to them along with single ply roofing.

This new facility includes an office area, cross dock for shipping, truck docks on both sides of the building and holds a whole lot of Twizzlers, Kit Kats, Hershey’s Syrup and their signature Hershey’s chocolate bars. The building has a shrinkage compensating industrial floor, minimizing floor joints, and holds a large amount of specialized racking for their product. This building also has a battery charging and maintenance shop area. A free standing truck entry and security building was also constructed for facilities control.

This design-build project was completed in eight months to accommodate the closing and product shift from another facility within the Hershey’s Distribution chain. The project received commendations for the project team from all levels of management within the Hershey’s organization.
